NextGen CM/ECF Information

About NextGen

The Federal Judiciary developed a Next Generation (NextGen) Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system that allows attorneys to use the same account for both PACER and electronic filing access. Attorneys are required to use their individual PACER login and password for access to the electronic filing system in NextGen Courts.

The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. (PAWB) will go live with NextGen CM/ECF effective Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

There are two things you must do to access PAWB’s NextGen system:

  1. BEFORE CONVERSION: Upgrade your PACER account so that it is compatible with any court's NextGen system (We highly recommend that you complete this step as soon as possible.)
  2. AFTER CONVERSION: Link your upgraded PACER account to PAWB’s CM/ECF system.

Can We Combine the Billing for Multiple PACER Accounts?

Yes, you can request a PACER Administrative Account (PAA) from the PACER Service Center. A PAA account allows you to manage multiple accounts and pay for all charges associated with the multiple accounts. The PAA account will not allow you to access case information, it only allows for account management. To register for a PAA, click the following link:

To get more information about the PAA, please read the PAA User Manual, or review the PAA Frequently Asked Questions page on PACER's official website.
